Nutritional content of chinese food

Well I was hoping for a general listing of common foods that chinese restaurants serve, but for example sweet & sour chicken or chicken & vegetables.

It is very bad for you, that's all you need to know.

Depends, 'fast-food' chinese or 'food court' chinese is not very good for you, but when i have real chinese with my gf family, it seems faily healthy!

Steamed vegetables and brown rice = nutritious.
General Tso's and white rice = not so nutritious.

I assumed the former. Unless you know everything that went into the meal, you just can't judge that it is not absurdly unhealthy.

Chinese food is very tough to estimate due to the oil obtained through frying, and the high fat sauce they drench it in.

A good recommendation for healthy Chinese food is to request your dish as steamed, not fried, and with sauce on the side.

I have never had a problem getting anything ordered that way. I usually get Hunan Beef, steamed instead of fried, with steamed rice. It's still tought to estimate, because of the high fat, low quality meat... but at least you don't have all the other fat.

Yeah that's what its seeming. High quality Chinese food is probly cooked fairly healthy, in terms of the oils used and stuff. My gf makes "chinese food" by stirfrying a bunch of veggies in healthy oil & cooking chicken in with it. Lo Mein noodles are too much of a bitch for her to make, as is white rice, so we pick that up from a local chinese place. Overall fvcking good meal, but I guess using brown rice would be better

I wonder if Panda Express is better/worse than the Ma&Pa chinese restaurant? I'm sure it all comes down to quality of meat (fat content) and the oil used.

Won't be hitting up Golden Dragon anytime soon...🙁
