Bill that would have changed what kids are served for lunch in public schools...

I graduated from high school 2 years ago and let me tell you that the food is horrible crap. I got served the same food from when I was in kindergarten to when I graduated high school. Same microwaved pizza, hamburger, chicken sandwich, burrito, or salad swimming in a pool of ranch.

They removed soda machines in my district from the schools and replaced chips with "baked" chips for healthy eating when I was in the 8th grade.. Doesnt really matter if you just end up replacing it with Gatorade and cutting out P.E. for all the grades..

Never had a cafeteria, or a vending machine, in any school in my town, grade school through high school. Why do we need them? Let kids bring a lunch. For the kids who get free lunches, give them a boxed lunch with a sandwich, a piece of fruit, and a carton of milk that doesn't require refrigeration when they arrive at school.

Why do you hate children? After all, anybody who thinks that parents ought to be more responsible for their children's health than Congress is obviously an antisocial deviant.

Gotta keep the kids fat and stupid so they grow into fat and stupid adults. Who the Hell makes any money off of smart healthy people?

Why is the federal government determining what is served in public schools that are run by a state/county/city/district?

He hates the child within that he keeps in a state of extreme torture to flatter his ego for being a manly man.

Dis-hick-tricks.

Every moron fancies he can think for himself because he's such a moron he can't see he can't think at all. The elite have to control the stupid so the stupid don't destroy their kids. Every moron says it's his god given right to destroy his kids because they belong to him. We have stop lights for the same reason. Every moron will want to go first at any intersection, otherwise.

And yet for decades schools have graduated plenty of healthy, successful kids that went on to have healthy, successful lives. The food isn't so much the issue as the sedimentary lifestyles of people today. Playing video games, and surfing the web have replaced hide and seek, and playing sports.

Agreed, it really is a lifestyle problem more than a nutritional one - especially for the sedimentary folk. It's really too bad that the children living the most sedimentary lifestyles can't help the fact that they were born to such igneous parents. What society needs is a metamorphic shift in parenting values.

Two thirds of the country is fat or obese. The average person is one standard deviation above functionally retarded. And you can't exercise away a crappy diet.

All of this is pretty true. You can cut many more calories out of a diet than you can burn through exercise. However, if you're not getting any exercise, you definitely need to start.

So, in easy steps:
1. Exercise 30 mins. 3 times a week.
2. Cut diet.
3. Exercise more.

OT:
My HS lunches were pretty bad, too. Everything was premade, relatively crappy food. But I'll do a lot for a hot meal, I've gone cold lunches for a long time, that sucked. Hot lunch for me :)

You need both exercise and a good diet. My girlfriend's little brother, who is in middle school, comes home everyday with a bag of chips and soda to sit on the couch and play xbox.

It doesnt help either when school districts cut physical education and music programs first. Personally, IMO the schools focus too much on overall academics. They want the state funding that comes from high standardized test scores. Everything that isnt a standardized test gets cut first. All of my foreign language, PE, music, and history got pink slips right after I graduated.

I thought Moonbeam was trying to "correct" the grammar so as to sound consistent!

The original has been edited so I can't be sure but I would think the original might have been what is served to kids not what kids are served.

What the F is a "sedimentary lifestyle"? Is that where you move so little you eventually morph into sandstone?

Or is this some kind of "clever" internet word twist?
