NUtech Black 8X DVD+RW/-RW Drive, Model DDW-082 BLK

Make sure you update to the latest firmware. When I burned at 8x I would get playback errors until I updated the firmware.

They say DVD burners are not going to go above 16x burning speed.

You believe that? They said CD-ROM drives wouldn't go above 32x, too. But eventually they did. But still, DVD max read speed has remained at 16x for a long time. How long til better (bigger capacity) than DVD type drives come out?

I never heard 32X as the limit, I heard 48X/52X, which indeed appears to be the limit. You can only spin a disc so fast - there have been stories of CD's literally exploding in 52X drives.

Blue Ray DVD technology is out now I believe, although it won't be affordable for awhile.

Which FW worked the best for ya?

B375 is the latest, it works pretty good. Aside from poor GQ media write speed everything works great.

That being said, I have switched to the Toshiba SD-R5272, as it does proper EFM encoding and can copy SD 3.1 discs.

Well i have also switch burners since i wasn't very happy with the DDW-082 even though AT rave about it.. i found no raving whatsoever.

Sold it locally for pretty much what i paid for, and got myself a Pioneer DVR-108 black faced 16x DL from
Newegg

and been happy happy with it since i got it. What a diffrence a good reliable name brand burner can do ha? 🙂
