They are illegal in AZ? Wow, I've seen them on sale in some martial art shops here in PHX. Plus, online vendors and magazines will sell and ship them to AZ.

Not a big loss though, nunchaku are pretty useless as a weapon when compared to a staff, sword, flying dart, a gun, etc.

It's been that way in CA for over 30 years AFAIK.

When I was training, my sensei was quite vocal about it.

But shotguns are legal. Get one of them, and incorporate it into some awesome martial arts moves.

I have a pair buried away somewhere. They are illegal to carry here, but not to own.

i do have one. i also have other weapons i studied in martial arts in my youth time.

2nd degree black belt in tae kwon do and 1st degree black belt in chung do kwan. i stopped taking classes at age 15 eventually to concentrate on high school sports. for sure, i'd be 4th and 3rd degree right now.

edit: demonstration team is better than showing off with weapons.

HAHA. My buddy and I made some for ourselves when we were 11 (In New York state ). Just sawed a broom handle and attached a small chain to two pieces.

We also made crude weapons out of pieces of scrap metal, etc...

Chung Do Kwan is a school of Taekwando...so what school is your 2nd degree from? Also interesting you held a 2nd degree at age 15 when the Kukkiwon requires you to be at least 16. McDojangs FTW I guess.

Why would a nunchuk be illegal?

Because obviously they're so much more deadly then a pistol or that hunting rifle that Uncle Jimbo has. :p

On a side note, my one experience with nunckuks ended with me hitting myself in the nads. :(

I have a few sets lying around. Pretty soon I'll give them to my son.

They arent great but chucks are compact and hit pretty hard. More than anything they are something to play with.
