Numbers stuck on screen (look like coordinates)

So, occasionally I will get numbers stuck on my screen in Windows 7 64bit. I feel like I've seen this over the years in previous versions of Windows, too. Not sure.

You're probably all familiar with how a context menu brought up by right click can remain after it should close, and this is similar but not that same issue.

Here are two examples which are currently on my screen:

The only way I know of to get rid of it is to reboot. Odd thing is, I rebooted to get rid of some earlier today, and ended up with these two rapidly within the fresh boot. I'm looking to find some way to "refresh" the screen and make these go away. Just right clicking and doing "refresh" on the desktop doesn't budge them.

Any ideas?

Interesting, starting up Counter-Strike: Global Offensive seems to have made them go away. They were showing up in it's menus, but the game itself seems to have cleared them away. Not sure yet whether they'll return when the game is closed.

Try restarting the video driver when it happens. If that gets rid of them, the driver is probably the culprit.

How does one just restart the video driver?

I just updated my Nvidia drivers in the hopes that will help, but there's another thing I've figured out. I now know what those numbers are.

When you resize a window in Windows 7, in this case it is Chrome windows, it shows you a readout of the window's current dimensions while you are doing so. Those numbers are getting stuck when resolution changes and the windows change size, I think. I try to avoid resolution changes but sometimes they happen with certain games and such.

Is there a way to turn off the feature of Windows 7 which shows you the current dimensions of a window while it's being resized?

What you describe is not a native Windows feature. The only software I know of that does that is Sizer. So you either have a 3rd party utility running amok, or this is some oddball feature built into Chrome.

Thanks, figured it out. At least, figured out where it was coming from. I run a program called Actual Multiple Monitors and it has a setting to show position and dimensions of any window which is being resized. I've turned that off and hopefully that will fix the issue.
