Number of pages in threads

References to the number of pages in a thread are meaningless.

Click on "profile"
Choose "Personal Options"

And you can have anywhere from 20 to 500 threads per page
and
20 to 500 posts per page

So, before you b!tch, whine, and moan about "omg, there are too many stickies," just change the number of topics per page from the default of (20?) up to something more reasonable like 100 or more. After a few years on cable, I'm back to dial-up. I'd be the first to notice if it really slowed down the loading of the page significantly... it doesn't.
 
But it still takes up more of the window itself. I hate having to scroll down to read the messages.

And btw, this is a repost.

That's right! Why should I have to waste energy rolling my finger back toward me to scroll the god damned page? Huh!!?? Stickies blow!

wtf? that was never the complaint.

the complaint is that at 1024x768 (the max my laptop can do), there are no actual threads above the fold.

That thread complains about stickies taking up half the page...
This thread is informative, telling people that they can have 500 threads per page if they want. And, they can have 500 posts per page as well when they view a thread.

It's annoying as heck when some moron says "It's on the 2nd page" when 2nd page means completely different things for different people.

And yes, Lobaboboblabdbabodingdong, there are still people who use the default settings.
And, per the effort to scroll? Is that more than the effort to go from page to page to page??

Yet another repost policeman who didn't read or can't comprehend the original post in this thread *sigh*

edit: actually, it is a repost... I posted this long ago as help to those who didn't even know there are preferences that can be set.
