Number of limits of Windows XP activation

Few days ago, I tried to activate my Windows XP online but an error showed up stating that the number of times I can activate this Windows XP has been exceeded. It asked me to enter different cd-key or call microsoft. This is clearly a BS! Has anyone experienced this? I despite microsoft already, but now I hate them even more!

Some of my Action Pack Licences have a limited # of activations, is yours retail media, or some sort of NFR or a licence you bought from someone?

I also have an action pack subscription, and I've had to phone in activation several times, but I've never encountered a problem receiving the activation code.

Thanks, thats good to know. I've had to use the phone for activations before, but hadn't tried to activate after using up the 2 activations yet.

When I call in, I find that the Activation CSRs at Microsoft have NEVER heard of the Action Pack. Action Pack Keys APPEAR to be limited-usage. Unlike Retail Keys, it appears that Microsoft actually counts how many times you use an Action Pack Key. There doesn't seem to be the normal 120-day database-wipe that's used with Retail Keys.

I was having lock ups on my system and was troubleshooting with different components and my Frontpage 2003 did the same thing but you don't get three days with office products, luckly I had a ghost image of the drive partition so after I was done troubleshooting I was able to ge it back without calling MS

I've now got a new motherboard and I'm glad I didn't reactivate office then because I'm going to have to reactivate it now, but at least I know now my system will run stable with the components I have.

When your computer is on the fritz or your trying to find the right configuration for components this activation crap just adds insult to injury.
