I'm a little upset that all mainstream cases still put 5+ 3.5" hard drive slots in cases. I understand that some users DO in fact need that much storage, but what percentage do they make up of the whole? Please vote, and note that by hard drives I mean all storage mediums that fit in 3.5" or 2.5" form factors.

Me? I only use one 2.5" SSD in an SG-05.

Edit: To Mods, this thread might be in the wrong section. Please work your magic!
Edit: I realize that I messed up the poll, treat option 1 and 2 as the number of people who use 1-3 hard drives.

I seem to fill up at least a 1 TB drive every six months or so. So yea, I only have two drives right now, but will be getting a 3rd shortly.

The spaces for me are very much needed.

Of course, My P182 don't have any spots for an SSD. :(

Got 6 currently but will change to a Corsair 600T with an extra cage so will probably have nine.

I used to have one SSD and two HDDs, but recently consolidated the two 500GB HDDs to one uber 2TB HDD.

I'm also in the process of setting up a FreeNAS rig. It currently houses three 2TB HDDs. There's room for three more 3.5" HDDs in my P183 for future additions. I actually wish I could get the Fractal Design Define XL, but it's a bit pricey at $150-ish plus shipping (got my P183 for $100 AR).

I've varied over time. My main rig had six drives (four SSDs, two HDDs) but I reduced to four drives (one SSD, three HDDs). The remainder of my rigs have mostly two drives or one.

One of my notebooks has three drives. :D

Most people can get by with a micro ATX mini tower for all their performance, storage and overclocking needs. They just can't allow themselves to believe it, that's all.

My P182 don't have any spots for an SSD. :(

There's plenty of space for SSDs. Just use Velcro or foam tape and some imagination. :D

I prefer Duct Tape :)

And i run 3 HDD's and will be adding a SSD soon and possibly another 3.5" drive if i can fit it in my case once i go to SLI 460's. Im thinking i need a new case soon, a antec 300 is going to look real crammed with SLI cards and a NH-D14 cooler :( i think my cooling is going to take a major hit and i will be forced to upgrade cases.

Pffft.... I need no fancy Velcro or duct tape.

My SSD sits at the bottom of my 900 with some slack cables from the PSU holding it down. :p

I'm now trying to decide whether I miss the old days, before 1TB hard disks existed.

Currently my Dell only has room for 2, maybe 3 if I rig a bracket where my Zip drive used to be. But when I buy a new computer I want room for 4 -6 internal. Better to have more expansion room, than not enough.

3 Drives

-OS/Application/Games
-Storage
-Backup

If I had the money I would switch to an SSD for my boot drive.

You mean back when game installation discs were on a CD or two instead of a DVD or two, and people were ripping their DVDs onto their HTPC instead of ripping their BD?

I was more thinking of when my drives went all the way from C: to L: just to break 2TB.

Three right now:

1. Intel X25-M G2 80GB - OS / Applications
2. Samsung 1TB F3 - Games / Documents / Pictures / Music
3. Western Digital 1TB Green - Backup

Probably four in the future:

1. Intel X25-M G2 80GB - OS / Applications
2. Samsung 1TB F3 - Games
3. Western Digital 1TB Green - Documents / Pictures / Music
4. Western Digital or Samsung 2TB - Backup

Depends on what system you're asking about.
My gaming rig (primary system for daily use)
-1x SSD (Boot/some games)
-1x 1 TB Caviar Black (rest of my non-SSD games and non-critical OS stuff)

GF's gaming/photo editing rig
-1x 500 GB Caviar drive

HTPC
-1x 500 GB WD PATA drive

Server
-total of 7 drives that will go up to 9 in the spring
--3x 1 TB Black drives
--3x 2 TB (2x Green, 1x Hitatchi)
--1x 120 gb boot drive.

If I didn't have a home server, then my desktop would have 4-5 and the others would have 3 most likely (I'm not using all of my HD's in systems currently).

1x 500GB Seagate

1x 1TB Samsung

Between my main machine and my file server, four drives.

Main:
1TB Hitachi
1.5TB Samsung

FS:
80GB Maxtor
1TB Samsung

Considering getting an SSD at some point to free up the Hitachi exclusively for storage.

Wow this is really eye-opening. It looks like accommodating for 4x 3.5" storage drives would really pay off for case manufacturers (SSDs can double up).

Hmm currently have

60GB SSD 2.5" hard drive (OS & Programs)
2TB Samsung F3 3.5" hard drive (TV Shows, Documents, Pictures, Music)
2TB Samsung F4 3.5" hard drive (Anime, Manga, Movies, Miscellaneous)
__
Will be adding a 640GB Scorpio Blue 2.5" hard drive to hold the documents, pictures, music, miscellaneous and maybe movies.

Kind of wish my case didn't have the 5.25" bay.

I support a dichotomy on cases: I'd like a single 5" bay for my main machine, so long as I could still get a reasonable 6-bay rig for my file server.

In case you couldn't guess from the above:
Main: 1TB Barracuda HDD + Boot SSD
FileServer: 6x 1TB Barracuda HDDs + Boot SSD
