Just picked up a new 17" LCD from Bestbuy. Had a nice gift card that offset the outrageously high prices that they charge to make it a decent deal.

Got a Samsung 171v. Just hooked it up and it looks gorgeous, except for one stuck on green pixel in the lower right hand corner. I've had 15" LCD's that were perfect and I'm wondering if I should return this LCD back to Bestbuy until I get one that's 100% perfect or if that's just a pipe dream and the next one might be even worse. Is one pixel defect common on this size LCD and I should just quite my whining or return until I get a perfect one?

Comments welcome.

UTmtnbiker, depending on the manufacturer, 1 dead pixel on an LCD is w/in the guidelines. I've never returned anything to BestBuy, but I would take a laptop w/ me to the store and try an exchange, if the new one is worse, keep your original, just a thought, hope it helps a bit :)

I had no dead pixels on mine when i got it... now there's 3 :frown:... kinda sucks but they're black and they're not green. you can exchange it... i'm sure they won't be a pain in the ass about it since some of them probably won't even know what a dead pixel is. but overtime you'll probably develop a dead pixel or two even if you get a perfect one.

Well, 2 for 2 on stuck pixels! :( Ironically enough, both were stuck on green. This 2nd one started off as 100% good, but about 15 minutes into playing MOH:AA, I noticed a green pixel where there shouldn't be green. Grrrrr! Does this happen often, that during the initial burn in period the pixel(s) die? You would think they would have a burn in period at the factory before being packaged up.

Well, back to Bestbuy today. If this next one doesn't work out, I'm going with a different brand. Anybody have anything good to say about MagInnovision LCD monitors? They look horriblely ugly, but the only other 17" Bestbuy carries that's in my price range is a Mag.
