Nudist advice

this is my first time, please bear with me if i have breached any posting etiquette.
i recently purchased an acrylic see through (transparent) casing and have looked all over for a see through monitor. i have'nt come across any, could someone advice? any info on what to look out for, what to avoid, and what price to pay would be great. thanks.

I have never seen a see through monitor. An Apple Cinema display might look good with it though.

thanks jack, that was the first one i considered. it has superb build quality and has pretty good tech specs. unfortunately, i'm not sure if it is compatible with the PC. this link lists system requirements for the display, but does not mention PC.

i do remember that sometime last year apple had announced in a big way that their displays were then compatible with PC's, or is that the iPOD i'm thinking of?

You can use the Cinema Displays with a PC, but it requires an adapter. I believe they run about $150. I've seen them on eBay, but I'm sure other stores sell them too. Try newegg or googling for it.

Don't all CRTs have metal shielding inside to keep all that RF/EMI inside? An acrylic monitor would just show all the metal, no?

I've seen a mod where someone gutted a Mac and put PC innards in it along with replacing the face of it with an LCD display. It had a Geforce 4 and looked quite decent.

The old Apple iMac is about the closest thing to see-through monitor that I've seen, being translucent. I think the new eMac is the same way, but I'm not quite sure.

The 2 G4's at work have see-through monitors, as well as cases. looks really nice. mouse too, if it wasn't that stupid 1-button

In addition to this, the Apple display has no hardware controls to adjust settings (eg Contrast, Brightness, etc). This is handled though OS X. So, unless you like your settings where they are set by default, or unless you know someone with a Mac and OS X, you won't be able to change these settings. Just something else to consider...

even with a Mac and OSX/OS9 (9.2 works too) it's still software and there is no way to make the monitor lock a specific setting

pity apple has not made, at the very least their displays (completely) compatible with the PC...
