Nude photo of High School Musical Star is leaked

The teenage star of one of Disney's most popular films is at the centre of a nude photo storm that threatens to wreck her career.

An explicit photo of Vanessa Hudgens from the hugely successful High School Musical has been posted on the internet.

The 19-year-old ?squeaky-clean? star has been forced to admit she posed for the candid snap.

The admission will come as a major embarassment to Disney chiefs who had hoped to build on the wholesome image of the young star.

Hudgens admitted that the colour photograph had been taken privately.

She did not reveal when the shot was taken or where, but there are rumours it was for her boyfriend and co-star Zac Efron.

The picture appears to have been taken in a bedroom. Standing and pulling her hair back with one hand, a smiling Hudgens shares the frame with a bed, wooden dresser ? and nothing else.

She and Efron are the stars of High School Musical and its sequel which, when shown in the US last month, attracted a record audience.

The original film was also a huge hit in Britain when it was screened here last year.

High School Musical 2 is due to be screened in the UK on 21 September.

Rumours about the photograph surfaced in a US celebrity magazine last week but were dismissed by Hudgens' reps as being false.

But earlier this week the photograph appeared on several Hollywood websites, including the Perezhilton.com site.

Hudgens was forced to put out a statement acknowledging it was her in the photograph.

Her statement said: ?This photo was taken privately. It is a personal matter and it is unfortunate this has become public.?

Hollywood insiders say the scandal could lead to Hudgens being dropped by Disney, which prides itself on its wholesome, family image.

Over a month after frisky nude photos of High School Musical starlet Vanessa Hudgens hit the internet, OK! can exclusively report that Disney has made up its mind about what to do next and that the 18-year-old actress will not be asked to board the boat for the third HSM film.

?Disney finally decided that they don?t want her back,? an insider reveals to OK!. ?They feel that as long as Zac Efron is in the movie, all will be fine. He?s the real star ? the household name ? and, most importantly, he comes without baggage.?

The source also reports that one of the Cheetah Girls ? Adrienne Baillon, 23, or possibly 23-year-old Sabrina Bryan? will take Vanessa's. ?The producers think that after Dancing With the Stars, Sabrina will be more famous than Vanessa.?

Adding fuel to the fire, Adrienne played coy with OK! when confronted with the information. ?I love working with Disney,? she said. ?I?m trying to convince Disney to let the whole Disney circle of stars in. I?m just trying to convince Disney to let your Zac and Codys and your Brenda Strongs join High School Musical. We all come in and invade their high school; that would be pretty hot. Put us all together in a feature film!?

Interesting thought ? but does "us all" include Vanessa?

Disney and the Christian Right need to get off their high horses and just accept this for what it is...a stupid mistake. This Vanessa Hudgens person is an adult, and Disney execs should expect that as an adult a situation like this can arise. But all of these "family values" groups put pressure on Disney and the execs are forced to do something. But there's no reason anyone should lose their career because a nude picture of them in a private setting leaks to the Intarweb.
