Nuclear detonation radius simulator

This was posted recently, though the search is as useless as tits on a bull so I can't blame you.

1MT is a more realistic yield.
 
Even if the detonation does not kill you outright, the radiation can kill a lot more imagine the radiation in the water washing out to see and killing all the fish. Then you have to take into account wind direction and speed to determine the pattern and distribution of the fallout. Radiation will rain down in the cloud and dispruse over a large area spreading out and blow on the wind. This can kill crops, contaminate animals, ruin the Water Supply, etc.

I was stationed in South Korea and I worked with an EOD Explosive Ordinanc Disposal unit. There is a lot more to think of than you realize. There would be thousands of people that will live but will die quickly from radiation poisoning. Others will get sick over the years from low levels of radiation and may have birth defects.

Soviet MIRVs tended to be a little higher up the yield scale IIRC. More to the 500-700KT range. The Chinese mount a single multi megaton warhead similar to the old US Titan IIs (9-10 MT).
 
Uhhh.... something is broken on this thing, I can get any size yeild to wipe out the world if I play with the zoom function...
 
300kT is considered to be the optimal yield in terms of output for size, once you get to multiple megatons most of the energy just goes up into the air and not into the blast wave. multiple 300kT with the same amount of nuclear materials will be far more effective than a single large bomb (IE put 4 300kT bombs on New York City to do the same damage as one 5MT).

EDIT: 50MT isn't a practical yield, you would have to fly a plane to get it there and need to refuel multiple times to get it to the USA, theres no way the US wouldn't see it coming and shoot it down unless you were all kinds of sneaky about it (IE: attack unprovoked ala Pearl Harbor).
 
It does not have be 50 kilotons. A single ICBM can have 16 individual smaller war heads all programmed with individual targets.

And all you have to do is duck and cover, you will be fine any way, be in next to a ditch, or under a tree. Just be sure to cover you head and neck good and tight as little John does on the film and you will come out just fine to go skip do the road with Jane again soon.

..they don't even have to detonate. If a credible threat ever shows up on US soil or ports our way of life will end and change for ever. All shipping world wide will come to a stop much the same air traffic was halted after 9-11.
