I started following this game a ways back and it's not only an interesting concept but the price is right. Kind of a sad state of affairs where a $25 price point makes me wary of a games quality but based on some things the dev team has said in the forums, I'm cautiously optimistic. I really enjoyed Battlezone and Natural Selection, so I'm hoping this will be a good next step in the FPS/RTS hybrid genre.

Only 32 players? Is that even worth a commander? Still, the screens shown on steam plus the good price make it something I might buy during the Christmas sale, lol.

Looked okay... reminded me of C&C Renegade... Ahh my top 30 UK player days on my 56k modem.

Best. Multiplayer. Experience. To. Date. (for me)

I'm more and more tempted by the Indie ghames that are coming out.

One to watch for: SPAZ (brilliant game)

Oooo renegade was great, had fun hogging the mammoth tank and escorting my stupid engineer friend into the enemy buildings for C4 fun

Didnt like that one map with the highway and buildings though, it was suicide if you were on foot, always got mashed by a stealth tank or sniped etc.

Man, this talk of C&C Renegade makes me think what a Starcraft 2 MMO FPS would be like...

THOR IS HERE! FEEL THE THUNDER!

Screw the Thor, I wanna stomp around in a colossus. Super ground incinerating super lasers reigning terror and fire and incineration from above? That would be completely awesome in first person.

Well, protoss might be a bit more fun to play with shield technology. Although really, that might not make it into an MMOFPS for balance reasons(OR all sides would get it).

how cool would it be, though, if you were in a Thor, and you had another player scoop you up with one of those medevac/transport ships, and fly you into combat...I don't think anything could possibly be more pure awesome than dropping a squad of Thors into an enemy base, annihilating enemy infantry.

Shooting down a dropship full of thors from a battlecruiser gun platform :) Or piloting an interceptor from your teams carrier and attacking a battlecruiser, they have no pilots but theres no reason it cant be remote controlled manually or something.

Ha! I should have foreseen that one...

I've been following Nuclear Dawn for a while, but I'm going to wait for impressions from people who are in the beta first. A demo before release would be nice, but I doubt it'll happen.

It might be only $25, but I've been very careful lately with what games I buy ever since I paid full price for homefront (that was my fault...)

Yeh how is it??

I pre-ordered and got into the closed beta. It...has potential but I canceled my pre-order.

It's really not fair to judge a game on a beta like that but with the impending release of BF3, I just didn't feel it was worth it to split my time that way.

*Crickets*.....

Not a good sign. Game looks a bit too cheezy to me, and it appears to borrow from too many other games to have anything remotely original. Of course, that's just what I see in the trailer and no one else will comment as I don't think anyone else has played it.

Considering it started life as a Source Engine mod, $25 is rather generous, especially since it still has all the quality of a mod.
Natural Selection 2 also started life as a mod (as did its predecessor), but at least they had the decency to build their own engine from the ground up (though they charge more).

Both were fairly relevant 4-8 years ago when FPSRTS was just finding itself, but now with the potential of at least 64-player full-scale battles (like ARMA or BF), games that feature typically 16-32 players aren't worth the RTS merit.

Since 10 and counting years I've been waiting for that Starcraft FPSRTSMMO. There was Ghost, the vapourware, and a Source Mod that never got off the ground due to legal threats over the IP. TBH I don't think Blizzard has it in them to make an FPS. And since BF3 no longer has a commander, the title for the next big FPSRTSMMO is still unclaimed (but certainly doesn't belong to this game).

looks way more fps focused than rts focused.

i want a game that plays 90% like an RTS, but lets you jump into to the hotseat of any unit to try to turn the tide of an encounter. no mmo please.

I picked it up in a bundle some time ago. I never installed it until last week and played ONCE. There was only 1 server to connect to. I had fun.. but haven't figured out how to take advantage of the classes. Lots a voice chatter and the players seemed really into it. I haven't decided how great or not it is yet though.
