NUC Kit DN2820FYKH + Win 7 - possible issues?

The rig in my sig runs 7 and USB 3 just fine. The kit only has 1 memory slot, so I would recommend you get an 8 GB stick now rather than later, especially if you run 7.

If you already have 7, it should be fine. If you will need to by an OS for this machine, I see no reason not to buy 8, unless you have some software that you know is incompatible.

This page has instructions for a Windows 7 installation:

Edit: look at the newegg reviews for this item. Seems to be some helpful info here:

You mean the kit works with win 7 + USB 3 with the bios update and intel drivers? no additional software or drivers etc?

Thanks for the link, that was useful.

I do have win 7 already and was also under the impression that Win 7 would be lighter on the box compared to Win 8? - correct me if I am wrong there.

Small diff IMO. Windows 8 runs a lighter gui, and Microsoft has "other" enhancements to make it run a bit more efficiently. I personally wouldn't buy a copy of 8 if I already had 7 though.

Could you point me to a link or source to these - "other" enhancements ?

I dont have any idea about what you have mentioned here!

Okay. I thought Microsoft had some other utilities to make the GUI run more efficiently. Anyways the links made for interesting read. Thanks again.
