I recently picked up this burner from newegg for $50. first off it wouldnt recognize as any slave device, and not in combination with any other optical drives. so i had to use secondary master and disable my other lone dvd (nothing wrong with ide controllers or jumpers).
Once installed the drive only sees discs half the time. i have to eject and put it back in to be recognized.
my old burner software doesnt see the drive. it only burns from the software that came with it, sonic something. after i installed that with the dvd package. discs became slightly easier to read. however the dvd software knocked out my old windvd player, and also every media program that reads dvds on my pc. winamp, wmp, everything. so i completely uninstalled the sonic software, and took out the nu drive. my old dvd rom is working properly however cant watch any more dvds. i even tried reinstalling windvd. no good. friggin terrible experience. has anyone had this problem?
