Lately I have noticed a few odd things happening after connecting to the Internet, so naturally I scanned for viruses, adware, spyware, etc. Anyways, I ran an old keylog detector I had on my other HDD and it picked up some strange activities with the two dat files I listed in the title. I tried scanning them, opening, even deleting them, but they are constantly being used by another program.

Does anyone know: 1) If these two are harmful to my PC; and 2) what is a good keylog detector out there (freeware, don't have the extra cash)?

I believe this is where windows logs the changes made to ntuser.dat (which is a part of the registry). These files are definitely not harmful, and need to be kept.

As for a keylog detector...I believe that most commercial anti-virus (and possibly non-commercial/freeware/opensource) already contain definitions for detecting various keyloggers. Any reason why you think you might have a keylogger on your pc?

I had heard a while back that when your Internet connection is sending more than it is receiving, that it is a possible sign that you have been keylogged. All of your passworded files/websites being reset and needing to be reentered also another sign. Both of these happened to me the other day when I first made the thread. My sent was almost double what my received was and Altell was unable to figure out why (Air-card via Altell).
