Greetings all,

I need to convert a DVD from NTSC to PAL.
All forums I read gave a multistep process. Is there an easier way of doing it? Any good sotware that will do the conversion for me?

Thanx.

Not an easy task. It involves extensive timing changes. I did PAL to NTSC, and it worked, but complicated. Multistep is the best way.

well I'm just dealing with raw video, no menus involved. Does that make it any easier?

i suppose it does, but since NTSC is 29.97 fps and PAL is 25, you have to lose the frames without making it choppy which is why it's a bit more difficult.

if you want to do this, the multi-step guides may be the only free way. there's software that will do it automatically, but it isn't free.

iMovie does this, but unless you have a mac, it won't be of much help.

I recall doing it with SmartSoft Video Converter Pro. It was not easy - took several steps.

This basic guide is pretty useful.

It can be done, but you not only have the region, but the frame rate and resolution to factor in.

Believe me when I say it is MUCH easier to get yourself a DVD player that will do the conversion for you, if you want make a copy, the you will either need a dvd recorder or a capture card to transfer to your hd then re-author with software such as TMPGEnc dvdAuthor.
