I have an issue with my computer. It has windows xp installed and runs fine except...for some reason, the NTLDR not found error shows up unless I boot with the XP CD in the drive. I don't have to run setup or anything, I just have to leave it in the drive. Is there anyway around this?

I'm new to posting on this forum but I've always browsed it.

I have this same problem... I also dont have a floppy drive installed on my machine anywhere...

Also a note... When I remake the boot files it works on the first boot then stops working after that.

I would like to know if anyone else solved this problem without having to reformat and reinstall windows.

Doesn't this indicate something wrong with the drive's boot sector? Something that fixboot or fixmbr would fix? I'm not entirely sure though...

I have a somewhat similar problem going on in one of my PC's right now. I have an IDE drive, and a SATA drive. Windows is installed on the IDE drive..but won't finish booting if I don't have the SATA drive in as well. I've tried doing a repair install, with the SATA drive in and the SATA drive out, and still get the same results. Only thing I can think of at this point is to just go ahead and re-install windows. You may need to do the same.

that sounds like the boot order in the bios is set incorrectly, change it to boot hdd first then the cd or make the cd the last boot

Ok I fixed it on my rig... Not only did I have to set the HD as the primary boot device but also had to set the options for Hard drive priority so that the HD with that I wanted to boot from was first on my list.
