NTLDR is Missing...Help with Hard Drive Swap

I currently have 2 hard drives in one of my computers:

1: C:\ Windows 98 (Boot Drive) (Master)
2: D:\ Windows XP (Slave)
E:\ Storage (Extended)

I need to remove the C: drive to put it into another computer. Well, the boot sector and all that stuff is on there, so if I take it out the machine won't boot into XP. I have done everything I can think of (used recovery console, changed all startup settings in XP).

How do I make the computer boot into XP?

Thanks for your help.

Remove the hardisk with Win98 from the system. Fixing the MBR from recovery console won't work until you remove it.

Then run recovery console and type FIXBOOT, ignore the warnings and let it do its job. Then run FIXMBR, ignore warnings once again.

As long as you have removed the Win98 hardrive a MBR and NTLDR files will be written to the XP hardrive.

It should boot up fine now.
