Ok i have had some problems with my harddrive in days past and i thought i finally fixed the problem. After formatting numerous time and using a friends computer to install windows XP pro my harddrive was working fine. I was able to boot off of it at his house iwth his computer, then i take it home and i get the error "NTLDR IS MISSING". What in gods name happened? In days past when i tried to fix it on my computer i got the FTDISK.SYS error adn the BSOD. now i'm getting this. Is it possible its not my HD but instead it is my motherboard? I'm beginning ot think it is. I have tried to flash but when i attempt it freezes and i have to reboot. Any one have any ideas about what to do. If i need a new mobo, what is the best one out there for an Athlon XP? I was thinking of getting an EPOX or ASUS.

NTLDR is a file that only gets read. If you wrote to it and your computer blew a gasket during the write I could see this thing getting damaged by the OS or other hardware. But since it's read-only I would really think you have a hard drive problem.

Boot with your XP cd and run a repair. You can fix just the boot files, replacing NTLDR. When you get running do a full surface scan of your drive.
 
that's what i figured...my hd boots up on other people'scomputers but when i put it in my comp it crashes and gives me the error adn then i'm not able to boot it up on another computer after sticking itin my comp. Guess it's time for a new mobo...
