NTFS or FAT when installing XP?

NTFS just because Billy Boy Gates says so! And do not forget Balmer the Monkey Dance dood, I am sure he would tell you NTFS.

NTFS definitely. Faster, more stable, more secure, more reliable. Just better overall.

Normally I'd also say NTFS, but right now I'm dealing with a situation which has required
the use of an XP install on a FAT32 partition for attempts at data recovery.

Both have uses, and I disagree that FAT32 is for older systems or 9x alone.
FAT16 is the obsolete version, FAT32 is still a viable filesystem, NTFS is usually better.
