FAT32 is for old systems IMO.

Normally I'd also say NTFS, but right now I'm dealing with a situation which has required
the use of an XP install on a FAT32 partition for attempts at data recovery.

Both have uses, and I disagree that FAT32 is for older systems or 9x alone.
FAT16 is the obsolete version, FAT32 is still a viable filesystem, NTFS is usually better.

NTFS. Plus, WinXP Pro supports user file encryption......but only if the drive is formatted NTFS.
