ntfs format

I have recently tried to instal a new hard drive. I keep gretting a message that it is not NTFS formatted.
How do I format in that manner other than purchasing partition magic or something like that?:disgust:

Are you adding this to an existing hard drive that already has an Operating System installed? If so, which one?

I am trying to but having problems. OS is win XPprof

Use Disk Management. Right-click My Computer-->Manage-->Disk Management. You can partition and format from there.

If you already have XP installed on your other drive, you need to partition and format your new one. Right-click 'My Computer', choose Manage. From that menu, choose 'Disk Management'. You should see your two drives there. Find the new one and right-click on it - you should be able to partition it then format it from there.
