ntfs, fat32, & partition magic 8 errors!!!

i'm having a lot of problems partitionioning an ntfs partition. i've tried many times but the operation would halt b.c of an error. if i delete it and convert it to fat32 my drive has no errors, but once i switch over to ntfs ....i still get the same error 1611 file 9(45)...bad system file error... when it attempts to do the process. i looked up the error code on the powerquest site, and it says to run chkdsk /f, which i did for all my drives. but still no solution. does anyone know of any 3rd party utilities that could fix my problem or anything else that could help?
