NTFS conversion still slow

1.4 Gig t-bird
8k7a+
2x60 ibm 60 series drives RAID 0
etc

Converted to NTFS and sandra shows how the system feel... slow. Drive benchmarks are a little over 5000 Really poor. I tried Partition magic too resize clusters and it didnt recognize my drive (probable because its striped).

Should I bite the bullet and reinstall windows? Do I need to reformat? In other words

Is this necessary?
What is the best way to go about it?
Also- there are newer Hipoint drivers out there. Do I need them in this situation? XP recognizes my configuration so I thought not, but I'm not sure.

PS besides any data and drivers I have, are there any other files I should back up when I do a CD burn?

Thanks
