ntdll.dll- what is this?

I was having performance issues when playing games. Such as, an old game called Shogo kept crashing. A pop up from Microsoft says ntdll.dll is bad and to reinstall windows. Can I reinstall Vista64 ulitimate over my existing copy without harming anything? Thanks.

You should be able to if you boot from the disc, hit escape at the first prompt, select the partition that you have the install on and select repair. If you select repair at the first screen you are forced into a dos-type repair console. ALWAYS BACKUP your data first, though.
