changing to a new server, the two other nt server machines can connect to it and the network fine. but the workstation computers get a domain controller not found/not reacheable error when logging in.

all with sp5 or 6, have tried changing nic's, network settings, removing and adding users in user manager, giving full adminstrator access, etc.

in the event viewer on the server, says something about needing to reestablishing client trust relationship and some security identification error.

any ideas? a few times, like after giving the computers full admin access, the errors dissappeared and we thought it was fixed, but next boot it reappeared.

thanks for any help, :)

You might be having a Security ID (SID) problem.

Try and start up Server Manager and delete the computer account for that NT Workstation and readd it.

Give this a try:

make the workstation a workgroup member (any workgroup name will work, it doesn't matter)
remove the workstation's computer account from the domain (in nt4 it's in the server manager)
resync the domain(wait about 5 minutes, just to be safe)
log into the workstation, make sure you don't have any open resources to the domain (i.e mapped drives, or printers)
make the workstation a domain member
reboot the workstation

everything should work now.

Agree with BigNic that's exactly what I would do.

Another thing you can do is change your Network to use NetBUI only. I remember several years back I was having problems with my Internal IP Address range (like an idiot, I was using A CLass A Address, not a private range) and couldn't figure out why my workstations couldn't connect. So I changed everything to NetBui, and it worked fine.

All this does is verify that you don't have any problems greater than your IP Address configuration.
