NT4.0 autochk runs everytime you restart

I have several workstations that run autochk everytime the machine is restarted. How can I stop this from occuring ? I looked on the MS technet and it recommended running the latest service pack. I tried this but it did not resolve the problem.

You can use the "chkntfs" command line utility. Be careful though, those workstations are running chkdisk for a reason.

Is the file system on the workstations NTFS or FAT? I've seen this occur on FAT workstations and servers. After converting them to NTFS, this goes away.

Try this

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RChelp\startup

Change this value to a 2.

Are you running Landesk??? I think that is the culprit if so.
