NT workstation, not joining domain

I have mostly win98 computers in the office but I have one WINNT workstation. I have all boxes logging into a NT Server domain. I do this mostly to run scripts and for file sharing.

The NT workstation will not join the domain, it is currently settup in a workgroup. When I try to join the domain it gives me the error "no domain control found" (or something like that).I do have the server setup as a PDC.

Any ideas?

what protocols are you running on both ends? is this all on a local segment or is it routed? Are you using WINS? Are the IP addresses of the tow on the same subnet?

Hmm.....have you taken the computer out of the workgroup and added it into the domain? If so, are you getting lights on the NIC? Sorry to be so basic, it's the way I think. LOL!!

had a very similar problem.. immediate resolution is to use that area in the network configuration portion of the NT workstation below where you enter the domain.. it asks for the admin userid/pw to 'create a new account for this domain'

I can't really recallw hat I did to resolve the lookup situation with nt workstations... i remember just giving in and installing wins even though it was a small static network, and I believe after entering the wins address on the workstation, resolution wasn't a prob after that.

i had this a few times.. try deleting all computer account in ur NT domain, then change the ip of that workstation and name then try to join, that worked for me, but your milage may differ..

"Cannot find Domain Controller" pretty much means exactly what it says. Your workstation can't communicate with the PDC. This has nothing to do with whether or not you've created an account in server mananger. What network protocol are you running? Assuming you're running TCP/IP, can you ping the Domain Controller? You need to let us know how you've setup the network components on your workstation.
