Okay.

Maybe some Wizard can explain this to me:

I have a Dell 4200 PowerEdge SErver w/ an AMI Megatrends Raid Card. I have flashed the bios for the MOBO nad the RAID CARD.

Here's what happens:
Install Win 2000 Server on a blank machine. Press F6, load AMI Driver Diskette. Reads, and finds drives. When checking HD, BSOD.

Install Win NT on a blank machine. Press F6, and load AMI Driver Diskette. Installs perfectly.
Boot TO NT. Don't install Service PACK. Insert Win 2000 CD. Run "Install Separate Version" instead of Upgrade. Click on "Copy all Files to Hard Drive"
Reboot. Do not press F6. Install is running from HD.

Every frikkin thing works fine. W2k Installs flawlessly???????

Someone wanna say why?

Possibly the issue lies within the driver that you had loaded. Without the exact Stop error, it's kind of hard to say. But I would place my bet on the fact the driver is probably old and the newer BIOS has a different function call than what the driver wants to do/call. I would look for an updated driver for your RAID controller.

If you updated the bios on the RAID card, I've seen problems with those AMI boards that requires you to scrub the array. After scrubbing, it then works fine. Never seen these issues with windows, just linux.

Otherwise I also agree with Shadow, make sure U have good drivers that match the version needed for the BIOS U went to.
