I have a windows 2000 server that has some shares on it. Window XP and Windows 2k can see the shares just fine, but when I try the same for windows nt, I get an "access denied" error message. I am using the same user profile (which is an domain admin) to test this.

Anyone hear of a problem like this? I tried to google it, but I haven't found anything that applies or just the question and no real answer.

Yes, but I've had a few wines and can't remember exactly.

Google for something to do with unencrypted SMB access. You will likely find this on the SAMBA mailing list, this was something that happened when NT4 sp3 came out, iirc. I'll have a wee shot just now, will see if I can find it out and post back.

That woldn't be it, since I can get to other 2k servers just fine, it cannot be something with the workstation.

I also think it might have had something to do with a corrupted security settings. I had removed all the shares, removed the MS file and printer share service, recreated the shares and the permissions. Now everything works fine. I don't know what was teh exact problem, but I at least know what worked for me.
