i have a corruptregistry on a NT4 wrkstn, with 3 logical partitions.

OS/Apps on C
Data on E

File system NTFS

I want to know if the data on the other drives are NTFS, will they be lost due to permissions set by the previous os with a different SID, or will the new OS have access to the partitions created under the previous OS.

Any comments or ideas on where to look will help

Adios

unless nt4 behaves differently than win2k, the new install will still have access to the data on your E partition, as long as you keep your install to the other (c) partition. no worries, go ahead and do it.

As administrator, you have access to the whole system, it won't matter what was there previously.

Exactly what is corrupted? If it's the OS files, you can repair them with good success and not lose your SID's or Program info. This is much better than a new install.

you won't lose the data. you don't even have to reformat the c drive. just reinstall nt on the c drive. it will warn you that you'll lose the other installation.

it's been my experience that once the registry is f*cked up, you'll have to reinstall.
