I just set up a multiboot system with Win98SE, WinNT 4.0 SP5 and Win2k SP2. My Win NT 4.0 OS has started showing an error at boot and the Event viewer shows this:
The Protected Storage service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
I turned the Protected Storage service from Automatic to Manual and the error messages have stopped. But is that a good idea? I have no idea what the service does.
I'm on a home machine and I'm not networked, presently. If someone can let me know what services I should run and what I should turn off that would be great. Same for Win2k. Any other tips appreciated.
