Finally figured I would buy a TV for my apartment. Anyone have something to say about the google TV's from Sony? I would prefer to spend under 400 for a 32inch. It doesn't have to be the best thing in the world, but I don't want to buy something outdated.

It would be nice if it had WiDi built in, but I can't see anything that actually has that. Other than that, DLNA/internet connectivity would be nice.

Would really prefer a Sony/Panasonic/LG over anything. All the Samsung shit I've ever bought has broken in a short amount of time, and I think Vizios are ugly.

Thanks guys!

I played around with a Sony Google TV at a friends place last night. If you have a cable box & on demand stuff then it was pretty cool. It could scour your provider and give you a nice category breakdown with cover art of all the movies available between your provider and netflix if you have it.

I didn't dig around that much. The web browsing was kinda clunky and seemed *really* slow. And the remote worked okay for some things (full qwerty keyboard was cool for web browsing) but felt off for others (like volume, channel, and netflix controls).

If you don't have a cable provider that does on-demand stuff and don't absolutely require internet on your TV then it's sort of gimmicky I guess.

Do you think its worth it to get the TV? I don't have cable and wont get it, its going to be only for amazon VOD/Netflix and DLNA from my computer.

I just want something that has a good smart TV setup basically.

From my limited exposure with it? No. My Panasonic Viera feels faster and easier to navigate web apps, has a more functional remote for TV & media, and the DNLA support is also very good with the Pansonic.

I'm sure there's a pile of stuff I missed though. I never tried the picture 'in picture web access/TV screens or dug around in the Android Marketplace/app space.

I'd rather have a more lean, faster media menu in other TV's or a dedicated streaming box (Roku for example).
