is it true? NSFW = NSFOT?

Was recently posted by a mod, as the reason fro locking a thread.

Is this rule only for certain people? certain topics? Is some stuff SFOT and not others?

I'd gather the op thread wasn't noted as being nsfw but I dunno

no, there was another thread that specifically said "if its nsfw, its nsfot" by the mod.

so is it nsfot at all or just if you don't have it tagged? i'm confused.

Coincidently, this very topic was posted for Mod discussion today. Once we run out of boxing gloves and the smoke clears, we might tell you. ;)

was it locked or removed? Did you check the linky to AT faq on rule #9..it's applied at mod's discretion and what one might knock over(remove), one might just lock another might just edit/pm the op/thread to do some "corrective surgery" to keep said post in ATOT .. <edit> I type slow sometimes..

I think it kinda take common sense.

NSFW because it is loud and flashy and you dont want the boss to catch you surfing instead of working, is probably ok.

NSFW because it is something that is sexually explicit, foul languaged or in any other way something you would be offended if someone else showed your granny... then it is not ok to post here.

Nothing with the Kinky Mod and the Mean Mod is ever SFW. :(

Hm, the thought of this all being recorded and posted on Youtube gives new meaning to the term, "Watchful Mod."
Though I'd best stop all this before the Mean Mod, or the Ironic Humor Mod comes by and delivers all to bannination. (Sorry, that was a cheap play on a Strongbad comic, something about Trogdor laying all to burnination.)

Without clear definitions of what qualifies for NSFW that are public, it will be hard for many to determine what safe is.

Culture, country, and personal taste play big roles in that decision, so if you come to a decision about what safe IS you need to tell us.

For example, while in poor taste, there was no nudity in that video, I see little reason for it to be marked as unsafe, but that's just my opinion.

Dear God!

If the thread linked is serving as an example of what is a bannable NSFW transgression (e.g. the writing of a single word), I'm not sure what this place is coming to, and I've never said that before.

To my knowledge, saying 'fleshlight' has never been bannable before, there has been no warning given that comic responses are disallowed, and I can't believe that anyone thinks that.

Off Topic
A public meeting place, a Pub, if you will... A place for computer junkies to boldly post Off Topic... Things you might want to tell everyone... Or things you wouldn''t say to anyone else.

You need to change this description.

Did you actually READ the OP.

What was wanted was useful ideas for a male co-worker that she barely knew.

The posters chose to be funny/ammusing or stupid - and it backfired on them.

Maybe it can serve as a lesson to others - use common sense and coutesy; others may not appreciate your brand of humor or may take you seriously.

Off topic is the only place on the forum where comedy, satire, and sarcasm is allowed or appropriate. When did that change?

If OP wanted solely serious responses in good taste, no one on this forum would suggest that she post her question in OT.
OP knew that risk when she posted the topic. There's never been a thread in my memory where at least some of the responses were'nt sarcastic. When did it become standard procedure to ban people for their poor taste?

And how are we supposed to take the mods statement that the bans qualify as determination of what is SFW? How is the response 'fleshlight', or 'porn' inappropriate and bannable?
