Since upgrading my phone (Verizon Wireless) I've been looking for a good way to get ringtones. As we all know, Verizon locks almost everything out, but since I have internet connection the following site is great to use:

A site with Playboy ads? Not marked NSFW? By our benevolent Forum Administrator?
*gasp*

make my own. it's cheaper. :)

WavePad - cut out a clip from any audio file. I make 30 second clips of my mp3's, save them to a memory card and upload to my phone as 'My Sounds' (verizon) and set them as ringers. You can also send pix/flix messages with the audio file attached from your computer. You can also adjust the properties of the file and clean up the audio if the song doesn't sound great as-is on your phone's speakers.

Or if you get BitPim, it includes its own MP3 editing software so you can cut out audio clips and make them ringtones. I will admit that WavePad is a little more robust though when it comes to editing. I use BitPim as a quick and dirty way of making a ringtone.

If you are an advanced user, you can also use BitPim to modify your phone's core OS files. I haven't gone that far. About the only thing I use it for is grabbing my phonebook, call history, and SMS's. I personally don't believe in paying Verizon to save my data on their servers when I can do it at home on my PC.

Can be found here: http://www.bitpim.org Works with tons of phones as well. Free, open-sourced software. It's a pretty much use at your own risk though. You can brick your phone if you try doing something like modifying the OS files.
