Hey I said obnoxious zealots are certain to be ignored, I didn't say their sane counterparts are sure to be listened to. But, consider the possibility that profound minds would be taken more seriously if the average fuckwad couldn't immediately lump them in with PETA types. A lot of them would still be ignored, given how anti-science and anti-intellectual so much of this country is, but every little bit counts.
