First off it’s about time
Second I agree with this
Third it appears Trump will not sign the authorization to renew the program
Fourth I agree with President Trump
Fifth I want to preserve this for future useful idiots who will blame Democrats for ending the program after some sort of terrorist attack.

The program authorized under the USA Freedom Act, requires reauthorization at the end of the year and the Trump administration may not seek to extend it, according to Luke Murry, national security adviser to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.
Murry's comments came on a podcast produced by Lawfare, a national security legal affairs website. The New York Times earlierreported on the comments.

But it’s all Hillarys fault we have USA Freedom Act and it’s all Hillary’s fault the survailence is ending because Hillary.

I'll believe it when it is official. Plenty of time for neoconservatives to get in Trump's ear and tell him why this will help Muslims hide in our bedroom closets.

Keep in mind some of Trumps communications may have been caught in the net. I find it highly likely he’ll not renew it out of spite.
As the saying goes.....even a broken clock is right twice a day.

I was going to say, my feeling is Turmp is concerned about this providing evidence implicating him in crimes and is the main reason he's against it. He knows its been used some to catch some of the shitheads he's associated with. I don't think this will change that though as they were caught because they were deliberately tapped because of suspicions (and was warranted to tap them). I hope he's too stupid to know that though and so starts talking openly with idiots that are tapped.

Not shutting this down and expanding it was my biggest issue with Obama. So I'll be happy if Trump ends it, regards of good real motivations.

They aren’t gonna stop doing anything lol. Officially they may not but unofficially business as usual. It’s despicable and the dragnet surveillance state is a crime against us all but Big Brother doesn’t simply wake up one morning and go this is wrong, maybe I shouldn’t do this.

So, uhh, who did the dragnet surveillance state drag up, anyway? Or is it just as much an amorphous threat as reefer madness?

I think this is correct. The hardware and software are all in place, I would guess the system doesn't require a lot of oversight at this point. Why pull the plug?

Maybe because it's 99.999999999% useless information that doesn't interest them.

But it feels good because terrorists n stuff.

Good move in my opinion regardless of the reason behind it.

Does this mean the war on terror is over?

Or that something even more powerful and far reaching has been developed so they advertise the closure of the old and forget to tell us about the starting of the new and we just have to wait for another Snowden to come around to let us know what else is going on.
