AMERICAN AND BRITISH spies hacked into the internal computer network of the largest manufacturer of SIM cards in the world, stealing encryption keys used to protect the privacy of cellphone communications across the globe, according to top-secret documents provided to The Intercept by National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden.

Ok this is getting a bit ridiculous, yesterday nsa was in your hard drives, now they're in your phone?

Anyone familiar with the creation story of the NSA? It's really a federal entity that should not exist, at least in a democracy such as ours.

Scary stuff.

At this point one should just assume any communication that takes place on the internet, between devices connected via a radio, etc, is monitored by the NSA.

Why else are they building a facility in the middle of nowhere in the mid west, that can allegedly store insane amounts of data?

Will it fix stupid posts?

You mean like yours? You honestly think that the government taking over regulation of the internet won't (sooner or later) lead to them making it easier for them to monitor what's going on? I get the outrage from consumers over what the big ISPs are doing, but I have no faith in government. Even if those in charge now have purely altruistic motives, the day will come when we'll have people in office (don't care about party lines here) that will find a way to screw us.

Let us hear what your definition of what "Net Neutrality" means. Only an idiot thinks that the government isn't already knee deep into anything connected to the internet. Please though, let's hear your definition, and then give us how your original statement makes a lick of sense.

My guess is, you will divert from doing that. Why? Because every definition of net neutrality I have seen, is the case that companies will use it to limit bandwidth or prioritize it to certain sites. Has nothing to do with security or anything related to the NSA. So please, why don't you explain your thought process here so the rest of us can understand "stupid"

"Net Neutrality" = Back before QOS was used like crazy on the internet or on intranets.

I would say from 1997-2001
