So you have no definition of an assault weapon.

There is the rub with most of this crappola. They scream and shout about these deadly Assault Weapons with no definition of what an assault weapon actually is.

I don't think it's that hard. It shouldn't so much be about "assault weapons" as capabilities. Semi-auto rifles? Axe those, you don't need them for hunting and they're often a weapon of choice for mass shooters. High-capacity magazines (the exact round count is up for debate)? Scrap those. Basically, orient US legislation to recognize that it isn't the 18th century any more and that guns designed for mass casualties shouldn't be available to anyone willing to wait a few days.

It's like porn. You know it when you see it. It's a gun that makes white males nether bits tingle. I don't give a shit that the "guts" of it are a basic hunting rifle. It's the overall "tactical" look and ability to modify it that gives ammosexuals the jolt of empowerment they crave.

You can modify any weapon.
It looks big and scary is what you have.
You do not have a definition of what an assault weapon is.

I agree with the exception of the blanket semi-auto rifle ban. That is like having a toothache so you have all of your teeth pulled.

There is nothing wrong with a semi-auto rifle such as a Remington model 740 that holds 4 rounds or 5 with one in the chamber.

Hm... I'd have to do my homework, but that might be more reasonable. The main danger is from guns where it's all too easy to carry several rounds (that is, more than five or so). The Model 750, for example, supports mags up to 10 rounds... nope.

The challenge beyond that is finding an effective way to clamp down on magazine sizes. But we can start by making clear that many current semi-auto rifles are wildly overpowered and more useful for mass shootings than hunting and home defense.

That is more an issue of an aftermarket magazine rather than an issue with the weapon. Which comes with a standard 4 round magazine.

Or they could even require the semi-auto to not use a removable magazine and uses a loading clip to load the built in magazine that is restricted in size.

True, and I think the removable magazine part is really the issue. You want a semi-auto? You won't have the option of slapping in a high-capacity mag no matter how many shady dealers you know.

And then all you have to worry about is people that have machining and sheet metal skills making their own magazines and making them work.

I forgot to tell you guys:

Remington just filed for Bankruptcy.

They've been on life support since the last time the company was looted by hedge fund ownership. It's all kinda sad. They're our oldest gun maker. The decline in the popularity of hunting sent gun makers in search of new customers the NRA provided with fear mongering & glorification of military style weaponry.

They actually make Americas most popular sniper rifle.

Its the preferred weapon of most police departments and some of the military.

The NRA obviously backed the wrong candidate back in 2016... If they'd supported Hillary, it would have been four fat years for them during which they could have stoked fears in dumb, ignorant RWNJs in order to profit from gun sales and membership fees, just like they did during Obama.

But no, they had to go help elect the fat con-man egomaniac get elected instead... Thereby screwing their own pooch, so to speak...

While the NRA is definitely going through some internal issues, it’s not dampening the American people’s love for freedom and their gritty self-reliance. In fact, inspired by current events, they are increasingly showing gratitude to our founders and vigorously exercising their second amendment rights.

With the cries of “defund the police”, weeks of mob rule, looting, burning, mayhem and feckless political mewling as a backdrop, Americans are walking past the burned out Wendy’s, the looted Footlockers and the detritus of Leftist dreams right into the local gun shop.

Suck it.

Excerpt:
More than 6.5 million gun-sale background checks were conducted from January 1 through April 30, according to the latest NSSF research, which showed a 48% year-over-year rise from the same period in 2019. Firearms retailers surveyed by NSSF in May estimated that 40% of their sales came from first-time gun buyers.

Oliva said 40% of those first-time gun buyers were women, a relatively high rate for that demographic group. Although gun sales have been up across the country, a rise in first-time gun buyers in left-leaning states like California have helped fuel the national uptick in firearms and ammunition purchases, he noted.

OK, you may be 100% right. However, can you explain this? Why did Remington go bankrupt because of the bone spurs president?

I just can't understand people thinking that buying guns makes you safer. I don't think the statistics bare that out.

Heh. You're a real piece of work, huh? Your numbers are from Jan 1 to April 30. George Floyd was killed on May 25 & the protests ensued from there. The two don't correlate.

I can't imagine looking at my pistol and thinking, "this makes me feel safe." I do have a machete, but inherited it. It's pretty useless in the yard.

I also have a big heavy baseball bat near my front door. Yeah, dumb as fuck, like it's gonna protect me... I should just throw it out.

Remington is declaring bankruptcy for the second time since 2018 because it is being mismanaged into the ground by idiots. This is a sad state of affairs for one of the oldest gun makers in the USA. Hopefully the Navajo nation will lead a coalition of buyers into buying and turning the company around.

That said, if anyone thinks the gun industry isn't alive and well and selling guns like hot cakes they are delusional. Gun shops all over the country are sold out and ammo is hard to come by with prices soaring. New gun owners are buying guns up at record rates.

I'm not going to debate the reason why or what kind of perfect society I would like to live in. I'm only stating facts. When protests turn into riots, and idiot presidents use force to clear churches for photo ops, and politicians on both sides use pandemics as an excuse to stomp on constitutional rights and suspend due process (no, I'm not talking about wearing masks) it's not totally irrational for folks to feel poop my be headed towards the oscillating cooling device.

Cackle all you want and quote all your statistics all you want, anti-gunners. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have decide that since they are paying for guns to defend them one way or the other, they want direct access to a firearm rather than having to rely the very cops folks are threatening to defund to show up to protect them.

And stop assuming everyone pro-gun is also pro-trump. Lots of pro-gun folks hate Trump, even if they recognize he is the lesser of two evils when it comes to the 2A issue. Trump is no champion of the Constitution and he'll shit all over it, human rights and anything else he has to in order to achieve his childish needs and wants.
