But you won't give up your computer for them? My plan will work, all we need is your computers. Build each child their own iron man suit so they can be protected. Think of the children!!!

If that would fix it I would do it. This is serious shit. This isnt some sick burn you came up with. This is real life. not that poser "im gonna over throw the government if I dont like what they do" fantasy.

My credentials? Can't debate the subject so attack your opponent?
Dude, I was putting you on. Your comments were blatantly ridiculous, so I put you on about your qualifications to pontificate on constitutional law. Any dolt could see you didn't know shit, troll...

Wait? Is this about saving the children or overthrowing the government? I'm confused now???

Anyway, I have agreed many, many times that a complete ban and removal of all guns in America would pretty much end gun violence. IT'S JUST THAT NEITHER YOU NOR ANYONE ELSE KNOWS HOW TO ACCOMPLISH THAT! So, instead, you go after the low-hanging fruit of lawful gun owners and want to disarm us, even though it will do NOTHING to stop sick/evil/criminal individuals from obtaining guns. Not to mention an unarmed populace has and always will be victims of those who refuse to give up their arms.

Can't argue with a sick mind. I have better things to do than debate your absurd rants. Figure it out yourself.

I don't keep guns to overthrow the government. I think the chance of ever needing that to be very, very slim to none. I keep guns to hunt, target shoot and in the very unlikely event I should need to protect myself or my family.

I was arguing about why the 2A was written and what the authors intended it to protect against. It was written so the federal government couldn't disarm the citizens, so that if the individual states had a need to call up a militia they would have an already armed populace available to serve. It was basically a check on the federal government overreaching it's authority against the states.

I understand you believe the myth that if the law-abiding would voluntarily disarm that the gun violence problem will magically go away. And that there is no legitimate and legal use for a gun. And that a defenseless person can always count on government, the police and their guardian angel to protect them. And that people are just too dumb to use a firearm responsibly. And that if one person does something bad the entire group should be judged for it.

I tend to disagree.

Don't be a dolt, OK? The only threat of tyranny in this country is from the Right, & they're the ones with the guns. Do you really think that mamby-pamby Libs have it in them to be actual tyrants? Now take a look at Trump & some of the very fine people who think he's wonderful. They openly advocate what the rest of us call tyranny.

Sheesh.

I fucking hate Trump. He is more of a danger to the Constitution of the United States of America than anyone else I can think of at the moment. What do you think he might be motivated to try and do if he knew the entire country was disarmed and he just happened to have a military loyal enough to support him in his lunacy? And if the country's law enforcement went along with it too???

This isn't really a time to be abolishing constitutional rights. Dolt.

EDIT: I don't want any party, governmental branch or single politician to have too much power. It's how bad things happen. Our Bill of Rights and checks and balances system with the three separate branches of government were put in place for a reason.

But anti-gunners never stop to think about the consequences of putting those checks and freedoms aside in their search for a quick fix. And considering banning guns would go as about as well as banning drugs has gone so far it makes what they want to do doubly stupid. Sheesh.

So you agree we dont need the 2a for what it was written for. You can hunt with a shotgun and a bolt action rifle. Everything else we will take.

The next part from what you like to quote is "being necessary to the security of a free State". It's so the common people can defend their land and keep it as part of a 'free' country. From what we're lead to believe from other documents at the time that could include any government.

Only if you've got the votes. ;) And who is the "we" you keep talking about?

And I never said we don't need the 2A, just that overthrowing the government isn't what I own guns for, as you accused me of awhile back. Reading comprehension, FTMFL.

And I do hunt with a shotgun and a bolt action rifle, thank you. I don't even own one of the black scary rifles you seem so afraid of. And, statistically, the vast majority of gun crime and violence is committed with a handgun. Easier to hide and much more portable.

And you still haven't given up your computer, tablet and phone??? See, I understand you consider that idiotic and it really won't help. Just like I think only a total gun ban and figuring out some way to prevent guns being illegal built and imported will really stop gun violence. So, when you come up with a way to achieve that then I will surrender my guns.

Until then, or until you get enough votes to strike the 2A from the Constitution, please stop blaming the law-abiding for the actions of criminals. Even though I know it makes you feel like you are doing something.

I merely pointed out that Conservatives' rationalization of owning guns to protect themselves from tyrannical govt is bullshit. The people you vote for are the only potential tyrants in sight. Y'all don't need to shoot anybody to fix that.

I'm def not about confiscating any guns, other than from people who are an honest danger to themselves or others. I'm all about further restricting the kinds of guns people can buy OTC, the ones favored by mass murderers. The truth is that modern military firearms are actually more deadly than the ones essentially banned in the 30's. Murder. It's what they're for, it's what they were engineered to do & they're excellent for the purpose. State of the art. They are, consequently, fetish objects for people who aren't wrapped too tight. I get that they're fun to shoot but that doesn't really offset the danger to public safety that they pose. I realize that there are a lot of them already out there & we'll have to live with that the best we can. That doesn't mean we have to allow more of the same or that we can't offer generous voluntary buyback terms to gun owners.

I don't have any fantasies. I was just pointing out that it wasn't just to 'overthrow our government', which I understood to be your point, but whatever works for you.

thats the point of all the alt right militia groups. They dont talk about invasions by other countries being the reason they need guns.

You thinking me giving up my computer to melt down to become bodyarmor isnt a real position. Its non sense in a thread about dead people.
