who listens?

Basically NPR, specifically WNYC, has been the only radio station on in my car for at least a decade now.

I like all the shows save one. Brian Lehrer, Leonard Lopate, MOTH Story Hour, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, Radiolab, All Things Considered, Ted Talks, Fresh Air and more are all fantastic.

The MOTH is just amazing. Wait Wait always brings some laughs. The rest are just chock full of information and in depth discussion of topics.

I go to a few NPR shows every year like MOTH Grand Slams and Wait Wait Don't Tell Me.

What's yer favorite NPR show?

For entertainment, probably Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. I also like This American Life and Radio Lab. For music, I like Jazz After Hours, and Echoes. A local show, In The Mood plays bigband and swing music. Car Talk used to be a favorite, but it isn't the same knowing Tom's dead. And I liked Garrison Keiler's Prairie Home Companion, but he retired from the show. Honorable mention goes to Fresh Air. Terry Gross has interesting interviews with people/subjects I don't think I care about. I'll hear who's coming on, think "That sucks", but then get engaged with the interview.

NPR and the classical station is about all the terrestrial radio I listen to. Otherwise, I listen to my music.

Oh yeah Car Talk - good call. Was such a great show. I honestly haven't heard it since Tom died. It is weird.

Prairie Home Companion is the only show I've ever heard on NPR that I turn off.

You are dead on about Fresh Air. I probably could almost care less about the person she is interviewing half the time but it just gets interesting.

Yeah, Terry is i good interviewer... unless you're Gene Simmons :D
I haven't caught Fresh Air in awhile as it's over by the time i get out of work but i'll download the shows sometimes. Same with This American Life.
I wish our local station had Echoes or Hearts of Space again, i liked those. They have some good blues & jazz on later in the evening though.

I listen to a few of them in podcast form (posted list in the podcast recommendations thread), and sometimes on the radio. Usually I don't listen to the radio itself (though WNYC is the local NPR station) since I'm usually listening off my phone directly or through Bluetooth in my car.

Radiolab is probably my favorite, but Freakonomics Radio and Planet Money are very close behind. I would catch other shows like The Moth more in the past when I was using the radio more.

We both really like Wait wait and Freakanomics. We went to go see Wait wait when they came to SE Michigan. Seeing them live was awesome - they spend a lot more time talking to the guest and the audience and its interesting to see how they handle their flubs so they don't make it into the show.

I was listening to NPR before it was cool. I refuse to participate in this thread for noobs. :colbert:

Ditto parents were avid NPR folks, started out in the 70s? Anyway they still listens to NPR daily. Lately I just listen to Science Friday religiously. I remember NPR radio simulcasting a PBS dead concert way back.

The Moth? Didn't see it on their schedule.
