NPD non-ipad tablet sales HP leads the pack.

I expected ASUS to be higher on that list because of strong Transformer sales, but perhaps most of their business is occurring internationally.

Since the touchpad has been rooted and can run Android they were a deal @$100, once the supply dries up expect HP to tumble from the top..

I guess $200 is the magical price point that consumers change how they view a product.

>$200 = "I want this thing to be future proof and have all the apps and support and allows me to do everything I need with it"

<$200 = "I guess I can use this for surfing and email"

At least that's what I saw when I was drooling over the Playbook. 🙂

" with HP leading the pack with 17% of that market, or about 200,000 units sold "

I closed the page once I read the above statement. The numbers just don't add up as the total production of TouchPads was stated to be around 1 million or so. Pretty sure most of them are already sold at least once.

Yeah, numbers seem funky.

This looks like it is for US retail sales. HP sold Touchpads outside of the United States and also offered a lot of them internally to staff members. It's likely that there are a lot that don't show up on this list for various reasons.

Acer sold the same amount of tablets as Motorola and Asus?
Nook Color isn't in the top 5?

I call shens on this report.

There were news stories before the firesale that reported Best Buy was only able to sell 10% of the 270,000 touchpads they had ordered and wanted to return them. Few weeks later Best Buy is sold out of Touchpads. So ALL the touchpads accounted for in the NPD report were from the Best Buy stock only?

That and the one I got from Wal-mart I suppose.

No clue, you'd have to ask the NPD Group or get a version of the report that explains how they collect their data. Assuming they only count retail sales, and U.S. based ones at that, it's not inconceivable that a large number of TouchPads won't show up in the numbers.
