I tried the Twinkie ice cream the other day:

1. It sounded amazing.
2. It just tasted like really sugary vanilla ice cream. Like cheap store-brand French vanilla ice cream.
3. The Twinkie bits were tiny (smaller than marbles). Because it was ice cream, they were frozen (hard). They didn't really taste like a Twinkie, either.

I have a friend who runs a vegan take-out shop, she had to change all of the product names because her food doesn't qualify as "cheese" or "ice cream" per the strong dairy lobby. Non-dairy ice creams are classified as "frozen treats" & garbage like that. Gimme a break

How is that different than stopping Hershey's attempt at lowering cocoa content for their product to still qualify as chocolate. I think it is a good thing food makers doesn't get to sub out milk fat with something like vegetable oil and still call it ice cream.

At any rate, Hostess isn't actually making this ice cream, it's being made by Nestle Dreyer's Ice Cream. Feel better?

I don't disagree with you when it comes to mass chains trying to differentiate in markets they don't belong in.

However, I am going to state that chicken wings grilled and baked still have potential to be legit wings. A good 450+ degree pizza oven can be an awesome thing. My favorite local wings are actually baked twice in a pizza oven by a local pizzeria that buys their wings frozen. Whoever the supplier is provides them with extremely meaty wings and because they run through the conveyor belt oven twice, not only are they cooked perfectly, but they come out crispy and would rival just about any fried wing I've had. (mainly because it's such a small place that they run the food straight from the oven to the table and they don't get soggy or cold)

I don't know of a chain that grills wings. I just mention that because I stopped frying them at home and only grill them now for around 20 minutes. They are pretty awesome and have a nice smoky flavor that way...they turn out crispy and are like 35 calories each.
