Well, got a lot of recommendations. More so than I even knew were out there. Thanks.

What are the best racers out there right now? We're not into it enough to discuss sim vs. arcade or whatever. I know of a few but I want to make sure I'm not missing any. Thinking of a game that may be fun to play with young kids as well. I know of Forza 3, PGR 4, Grid, Dirt 2. I've got some points I want to waste on Goozex. What's the best racer I can get our feet wet for cheap? Thanks.

I like Project Gotham Racing myself, and I think that would be a bit more fun for kids to play since it's not nearly as technical as Forza. If you want to spend less money, you could pick up PGR3 instead of PGR4. But a quick search on Amazon shows that PGR4 is pretty darn cheap as well (~$15).

Burnout Revenge
Burnout Paradise
Need for Speed: Most Wanted
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit

those are the 4 racing games I own and I liked all of them a ton while completing them. I think burnout paradise is by FAR the longest racing game I've ever played. It takes A LOT TIME to get everything 100%, but it was fun the whole time.

and these are big time arcade racers, especially burnout.

Thanks, how to those burnout games compare to the one's I've listed? They are not even on my radar. I played NFS:MW on PC and we own NFS: Carbon for 360....

I personally feel that Burnout Paradise is arguably the best arcade racer on the current gen consoles.

PGR4 is my favorite racer on the 360.

Burnout Paradise is good but it's a different kind of beast since it went open world. Criterion have been phenomenal about updating the game--tons of free content and they somehow decided only to charge for what many consider to be the crappiest of the DLC.

On 360 I've played PGR3, PGR4, and DiRT. DiRT was by far my favorite but I can definitely understand why people would like PGR4 more. I haven't played DiRT 2 or 3, so I don't know how those might different.

Recommend Burnout also.
Burnout Revenge has split screen head-to-head racing so you can go against others. you go from event to event, going up in levels.
Paradise is more open ended, totally different game. worth it also. no split screen.

I'd hate to be just getting into racing games on XBox, there's just so many good ones! It'll be tough to try all the good ones.
Even ones like Midnight Club LA and Blur/Split Second are amazing games that I sunk a bunch of hours into. Never mind the big guns mentioned in this thread. Blur and Pure are two beauties that kids would like, quite over the top with really fun gameplay.

I'm in the minority but I didn't enjoy B. Paradise. I don't like open ended racing games....just feels weird. I started the game and had no idea wtf to do. I liked the way they sculpted the game before that.

I think I got more of of BOP than any racing game ever. I bought it years ago and all the free and paid for DLC has been excellent. Its such a great game that I cant see any other burnout game ever topping it. It was too good in some respects. I guess thats why they bought the NFS series.
