seems amd has left a hole in their dx11 launch, got 259+ covered and 159 and below covered, where's the dx11 part for the 200 bracket? seems odd to leave it open.

When the 5870x2 comes out, we might see the 5870 drops to 200-300 spot, the 5850 drops to the 180-200 spot, get the 5770 at 120-130 spot and the 5750 at 100 spot.

Meanwhile we will probably have the 4890 holding the spot between the 5770 and the 5850 while the others 4800 series get EOL'ed.

I thought that they would be only releasing "Hemlock" later this year and the "Redwood" and "Cedar" Q1 2010.

Haven't seen any 5830 mention.

A 5830 would be Cypress, presumably cut down even more than the 5850, probably 1280SPs or so, whereas Redwood and Cedar would be whole chips developed specifically for budget and entry level as 5600s and 5300s.

As far as two new cards, the 5870 X2 is one obvious one, while the other very well could be a 5830.

Doesn't seem odd to me, seems more like AMD is waiting 4870/4890 quantities to drop before filling in the gap with a next generation part. Why release the (let's call it the 5830) now while they still have plenty of the still popular 4870/4890's on the shelf. Since who would want to buy a 4870/4890 when you got a next generation part that performs similar/better presumably around the same price.

meh...that's just my guess

Agreed! On another note, hd5770 reviews are out and I was right, it doesn't touch the hd4870 in most games. It does beat the hd4850 across the board but you were right about that one, hd5770 has more bandwith than hd4850.

Well the articles that came out with the release of the 5870 mentioned that they would release 2 more members (chips) of the Evergreen family, those being the Junipers and the Hemlock - http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3643&p=3 .

So after the Cypress parts were out, we would have the Junipers (5770 & 5750) and Hemlock (5870x2 and 5850x2, the 5850x2 probably being a non-standard part as the 4850x2).

From http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3658&p=14

With the launch of the 5700 series, AMD finally gets to take a breather. 2 of their 4 Evergreen chips have launched, and nothing else is scheduled in the near future. Look for the release of the X2 series (Hemlock) late this year, and then next year the final 2 Evergreen chips will drop. But for now half of the job is done, with AMD having pushed out DX11 parts to $110 and above in the very short span of 3 weeks. It?s a pace that makes the slow proliferation of DX10 parts absolutely glacial in comparison.

So either there is some information I didn't see and then I would like links (not saying this in a moronic way, just in the curious "I want to read it too" way) or maybe there is some confusion between chips and cards? Or the 2 cards are the 5850x2 and the 5870x2?

5850 will probably become $199 once GT300 launches.

I don't think there is a reason to make anymore cards unless AMD has enough Defective/low bin Cypress cores to use for another SKU.

Price will get there eventually with competition and as the generation goes on. I suspect the 5870x2 which should be out in a matter of weeks may also bring on some drops on the other cards.
