I have an antec 900. Usually when I go into standby (b4 bed time), my fans and lights would turn off too. Now when I go into standby all the fans and lights stay one. WtF? Why did this suddenly happen? Does anyone have a cure? I can't stand listening to fans or seeing lights while I'm trying to sleep.

I have no idea why it would change. If the fans run in Standby of a new PC, you need to go to Bios>Power & set it up.

Suspend Mode S3 Only
Repost Video Disabled
ACPI 2.0 Support Enabled
ACPI APIC support Enabled

You probably should run some AV & Spyware scans, + maybe HJT.

Have you done anything to see how that could happen? Others may want that info. I didn't think a look at bios would hurt.

It's not an issue caused by bios or viruses. I don't have viruses. Clean PC under strict self-imposed regulations. Sigh, probably another unanswered question of mine. I get too many weird ones that nobody knows how to fix. the last one was how vista would mysteriously uninstall my mouse and keyboard (everyone one i tried). never could figure it out, just had to stop dual booting into vista. :(

Ah, so a hardware problem and you tell the OP to run a virus scan? Is one a fool?

OP: It could be a BIOS limit. The motherboard was simply not programmed to shut off fans upon Standby. There can potentially be some settings in Windows' power settings but I am not sure.

I wish it was a bios setting but I know my p5n-e like the back of my hand. There's nothing in there.

The fans and lights used to shut off, this is so bizzare. One night just randomly they decided to stay on and ever since.. weirdest thing ever. I don't recall installing any software or devices that would be responsible. I think it's totally hardware related.

Why would the shut down signal not be getting sent to the case like it was b4?
