Update: the display is back in stock but now at $390 - $50 rebate = $340. This is a better price than any other vendor online, but you'll have to be willing to deal with the rebate (for the record, I've never had any difficulty with MacMall/PCMall rebates).

I think my ZR24w is being delivered this afternoon...

MacMall is offering the 24-inch 1920x1200 HP ZR24w monitor for $350 - $50 rebate = $300. This is an sRGB-gamut IPS display. I believe this is the lowest price I've ever seen for this monitor by $50 or more.

I'm going to revisit Hard|Forum to see the latest user reports and then most likely order one. I'll be getting a 1920x1200 IPS display at last!

I placed my order. $300 is too good a deal to resist for a 24-inch IPS panel. Please, please let the screen be uniform!

The LP2475w is discontinued, I believe, but some retailers retain a few at very high prices. Its colour is wide gamut, but unlike the Dell U2410, the sRGB mode is useless. It does seem to be slightly superior to the ZR24w in visual quality and certainly in features (ie inputs). If one needs wide gamut for colour work, I'd get the U2410 at this point.

The U2410 I'm not entirely impressed with for color accuracy type work (i.e. photo editing). That goes for any high gamut monitor though.

Just a word of caution the screen has gamma shifting in the corners very bad, a little screen door effect, and produces a LOT of heat.

It's dead, Jim.

The price didn't even last a day. The only ZR24w still available on their site is now for $500.

My order shipped though, so I seem to have made it. I hope MacMall wasn't using the promotion to offload their dodgy panels, heh.

Unless they were refurbs or otherwise opened and tested, they should have no idea what the screens looked like. They could have been unloading old stock if a new firmware revision is on it's way, however - Dell did that when I bought my 2408WFP A00; the A01 came out 2 weeks later.

My order shows as shipped as well, confirmed over the phone, but the tracking info isn't showing up on UPS just yet. Hope I get a good panel, as my Soyo was starting to show issues with the psu and I'm kinda lazy to fix it.

MacMall is offering this SKU again, but at a higher pre-rebate price: $390. After rebate, the price is now $340, which is still about $40 better than most online vendors. I'd say it's still a fairly warm deal.

UPS states my monitor is out for delivery. Generally they visit my parents' house in the early evening. I'm here for the next couple of weeks and so will have to test the display with my MacBook Pro (it's early-2008 model and has DVI). I'd like to try it with the iMac too, but I haven't got a mini-DisplayPort adapter (well... I do, but I left it at a female friend's flat).

The earth has shattered, and pigs are flying. Seriously. ;)

Ha! I've been looking at IPS displays for several years, and in earnest for the past two, as they've become a lot more affordable with e-IPS, etc. That still led to agonising between the HP LP2475w, the Dell U2410, and this monitor... not to mention all the 1920x1080 panels that are available.

My monitor arrived on Monday evening, and I unboxed it today. Haven't done any serious testing on it, but it looks good thus far. As with most IPS displays, it was blindingly bright out of the box. I think I've set it to 19/100, and it's still rather bright...

You were heavily involved in all the threads I read or posted in 2 years ago when I bought my 2x 2408WFPs for home. And you've been involved in nearly every 24" or IPS monitor thread on this forum since then as well. ;) It's just nice to see you've finally gotten over your reservations.

Remember that brightness sets the black level, and contrast sets the white level... If it's too bright in the whites you need to tweak contrast, not brightness.

I'm debating whether or not to buy this monitor to replace my Dell 2001FP. Aside from wanting a bit more screen real estate, I want to occasionally watch BluRay movies that I'll play on my PC (with 8800GT video card), so I'll need a display that supports HDCP.

In other forums I've read about problems with 1920 x 1080 content getting stretched vertically, but as far as I can tell this should happen only with BD players, games consoles, etc. Can anyone here confirm that this will not be an issue when using a PC? Any other problems with playing movies on the ZR24W using DVI?

If by 1920x1080 'content', you mean pictures or videos of that resolution, then they will show up like any other content on a computer operating system: in a window which, when maximised / fullscreened on 1920x1200 display, should leave black horizontal bars for the unfilled space. That's what I've seen myself, with horizontal bars for 16:9 video content and vertical bars for 4:3.

I'm running Mac OS X on a MacBook Pro using the HP as secondary display and watched vids in QuickTime and VLC, but you can also see confirmation from Windows users on the Hard|Forum.
