Look at it this way: Either it's an experience that you can remember for the rest of your life, or worse come to worst, you'll be beheaded and it'll be something we see on tv that we'll remember forever. Either way it'll be remembered. 🙂

btw, I would have gone

I'm standing firm. They can kiss it for Riyadh.

How bout you do a poll between going to Riyagh and staying: whatever option wins is what you do. Comon, take one for the team!

I'd do it for money. Riyadh is a pretty boring place but 2 weeks won't kill you. The only 2 good places to work in middle east is UAE (namely dubai) and Quwait.

Aren't they really extremist, even for things like alcohol? I'd pass for anything less than a $20,000 bonus and an armed bodyguard or two.

My dad worked in Saudi Arabia for a couple of weeks after the Gulf War (he worked with the World Bank). Typically, the extremism for alcohol (and pork) has a counter-extreme in how they treat tourists and foreign expats (offering them alcohol and ham with every meal). He said it was weird, but definetely worth doing if you're interested in seeing a different culture.
