Ksport's 16 inch brake kit for the Mazda MX-5 comes in at 70 lbs for the front wheels.

That's 35lbs a wheel.

Weight of Camaro SS wheels:

20x8(front) = 30lbs 13.7kg
20x9(rear) = 31.96lbs 14.5 kg

21"x8.5(front) = 31.7lbs 14.4 kg
21"x9.5(rear) = 35.71 lbs 16.2kg


Yep heavier than the 20's and within a pound of the 21's. This is obviously not including tires.

tire weights 245/45/20 .. 275/40/20 .. 245/40/21 .. 275/35/21

So with the big break kit on 20's you're looking at 97lbs of unsprung mass in just the brakes, tires, and wheels on each side of the front.

The two front tires together have over 200 lbs of unsprung mass on them with that brake kit, if not more (the mazda kit has smaller calipers).

If we go with the standard 7:1 ratio, that's an equivalent of 1400lbs on just the front end. The 21's are 220+ lbs of unsprung mass. Which is equivalent to 1540lbs of sprung mass.
