American Airlines Corporate Executives give up bonuses to save company.

Now this is true grit. Well, ok, they had some coaxing from the unions, but still. The execs were willing to sacrifice just as much as their have asked their employees to in order to try to save the company. I respect these guys. They could probubly serve to do more to sacrifice for the company, but at least they're giving it an effort to try to salvage the company by sacrifice rather than rob it dry then dump it like some corporate execs (ehem, enron) that I know of.

So you're saying without the unions, the execs wouldn't have given up their bonuses? Unions are a good thing?

umm if you have been following the story they, the execs, tried to sneak these pension plans and bonuses by the unions..when they discovered this the unions went crazy because they, the union members, had agreed to take paycuts in order to avoid the airline going into bankruptzy

now how great do you think the employees felt taking a paycut while the execs wrote themselves bonuses... fricken bastards.. and then they lied about it

read the whole story not the part that makes the execs look like the good guys

They only gave 'em up after it was found out.

Greedy bastards. Makin' more in bonuses than we make in a lifetime. And for what? Running a company into the ground? They should be the first to lose all their pay, including salary, before they ask the rest to give up a single penny.
